Bad Bill Bob's Commentary on LC2244
A similar bill was introduced in 1991 and failed after packed hearings. This was also
debated in the 2013 session. It is a no-brainer that Congress should operate under
a balanced budget, but to add language to the US Constitution would probably not
be followed anyway. But, the greatest danger that this bill poses is that the convention
would be a run-away and end up turning this document upside down in ways that
supporters of this bill would never expect. The convention is done in secret and those
serving on committee would likely head in a direction that the founders of our
great country would be shocked at.
The bottomline is that there is way to much risk attached to a convention and there
is ZERO way that it could be restricted to a single issue. The intent has merit, but
the risk of loosing our freedoms is too great.
